The
Official
Municipal & Community Website
for the Town of Pittsfield, VT
Weather
Pittsfield, chartered July 29, 1781, lies in the center of Vermont on Route 100. A small town of 546 residents, Pittsfield continues to enjoy a traditional town meeting where town business is discussed and all business is voted “from the floor”.
One takes a step back in time when passing through Pittsfield with its village green and bandstand, adjacent historic cemetery, private residences and town buildings.
Pittsfield has a variety of outdoor activities to offer: fishing on the Tweed River, easy access for hiking and cross country skiing on both the Long trail and in the Green Mountain National Forest, mountain biking on Liberty Hill’s Contest Trail and snowmobiling on VAST Trails. Pittsfield is also close to several major ski areas.
Roads in and out of Pittsfield are now passable, however construction is ongoing at several locations and reduced speed limits are in effect. If you need to be on the roads, please be courteous to the workmen. They have been doing a fantastic job and deserve a round of applause.
WATER TEST KITS
There are still a few water testing kits available at the Town Clerk's Office for anyone whose well was compromised due to Hurrican Irene.
RELIEF FUND
The relief fund is still looking for contributions. Over 23 properties have been affected and several homes are gone altogether. The recovery and rebuilding will be long and hard. Please contribute, no matter how small. Your contribution will play a huge part in rebuilding the Town of Pittsfield. Click on the link for further information.
